The Madras Kirana Merchants Association (MKMA) has a proud history and the rare distinction of being one of the pre-independence trade associations. It is still marching forward to serve the requirements and the needs of the trade. After the advent of independence, there has been a lot of organizational activity in the trading community, encouraged by the business expansion and compelled by the increasing state interference in the business.
